How To Compress A Word File

word

Did you notice that the size of a Word document that you have to send via email are well above average and so would like to "lighten" a bit '? I do not promise anything, but maybe something can be done.

Follow the advice I am going to give you and find out how to compress a file Word optimizing the content. If you're lucky and the document you want to compress is not already maximized, you'll get good results. Let's get started!

If you are looking for a solution on how to compress a Word file, one of the most effective solutions that you can implement is to compress the images contained within the document and save it in DOCX, which as we know is lighter than the DOC Word 97-2003. I know that may seem like a difficult thing, and yet I assure you that it is a breeze.

All you need to do is open the file to be compressed in Word and select any of the images contained in it. Then went on the Format tab that appears at the top right and click Compress Pictures (located in the upper left).

In the window that opens, put a check mark next to the item in all the images of the first document and click on the OK button and click Apply to start the process of compression of the photos contained in the document.

When the operation is completed (it will take a few moments), grant to save the file in DOCX clicking the File button located on the top left and selecting Save As from the menu that appears. In the window that opens, set the option Word Document in the Save as type drop-down box, type the name you want to assign to the document in the file name field, select the folder in which to store the file and click the Save button to complete ' operation.

Now check the size of the document before and after the changes: if everything went the right way, the DOCX with compressed images should be lighter than the original file. But do not expect miracles, I recommend it. If the original document does not contain a lot of photos and is already in DOCX, the weight loss will be quite modest.

If you do not need to compress a single Word file, but a large number of documents at a time, you can turn to solutions like FILEminimizer Suite.
